Antonio M. Serapio Elementary School conducts an earthquake drill on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in accordance to the Unnumbered DepEd Memorandum entitled The Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) as one of the campaigns of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to educate the students and the Filipino in general, on how they should prepare for an earthquake and to check out the contingency plan of the schools for this kind of disaster.
AMSES students prove how ready and knowledgeable they are when an earthquake occurs by doing the “Drop, Cover, and Hold” whenever they hear the long ring of the bell. This warning signifies that an earthquake is happening and signals that students must prepare for an evacuation. To them, evacuation means falling in line and going to their designated evacuation area as quickly as possible without creating commotion and avoiding stampede while doing so.
Students also know that once they reached their places, they still need to do the Drop, Cover and Hold while having a headcount. This headcount is done to ensure that nobody is left at the classroom.
This success will not happen without the help of the teachers and staff of the school who guide and instruct the students on what to do and what’s not.
